Minor paint damage we repair

The everyday damage Orange County cars pick up

This service is for minor paint damage, not major body work. If the paint is chipped or scratched through, touch-up is usually the fastest and most affordable fix.

Front end · hood · bumper

Rock chips

Freeway driving kicks up rocks and debris that knock small pieces of paint off the front of the vehicle.

Lower bumper

Bumper scratches

Curbs, parking blocks and tight garages leave scratches along the lower part of the bumper.

Doors · side panels

Key scratches & vandalism

When someone keys the side of your car, the scratch usually cuts through the color. We fill it back in.

Not every scratch needs paint. Light surface scratches that sit only in the clear coat can often be wet sanded and buffed out with no paint at all. We'll tell you which repair your car needs when you send photos.

Better, not perfect

“Our paint touch-up service is going to make it look better but not perfect.” Rich Price, owner, Auto Recon Express

We're upfront about this. Touch-up makes chips and scratches much less noticeable and protects the damaged spot, for a fraction of what a body shop charges to respray a panel. If you need the damage to disappear completely, a respray is the way to go, and we'll tell you so.

How close the result gets also depends on your color. Every color comes out a little differently.

Most cars on the road have standard colors that touch up very well. Three-stage paints have an extra mid-coat layer, which makes them harder to match by hand.

Cost & time

Touch-up vs. a body shop respray

For minor chips and scratches, mobile touch-up costs far less than having the panel resprayed, and your car never leaves your driveway.

Questions

Paint touch-up FAQ

How much does rock chip and scratch touch-up cost?

Most mobile touch-up repairs average $150 to $200. Text us 3 photos of the damage for an exact quote, usually the same day.

How long does the repair take?

Most repairs are done in less than one hour at your home or office.

Will the chip or scratch be invisible afterward?

Touch-up makes the damage look much better, but not perfect. It is far less noticeable and the spot is sealed, at a much lower cost than a body shop respray.

Which paint colors are hardest to touch up?

Pearl whites, some silvers and three-stage reds are the most difficult. Standard colors like black, white and gray touch up extremely well, as long as they are not three-stage paints.

Does every scratch need touch-up paint?

No. Light surface scratches can often be wet sanded and buffed out without any paint. Paint touch-up is for chips and scratches where the paint itself is damaged.

Do you come to me?

Yes. Our service is 100% mobile and covers all of Orange County. We come to your home or office.
